MISSION STATEMENT
Friday 30 June 2006 by Edward.
I plan to explore and showcase innovative tools and techniques used to enhance and to study tourists’ (online) experience — before, during and after the visit to their destination.
Over 90% of tourists, now, first visit a potential destination online. How does your website stand out? Clever use of the internet and tourism-friendly technologies can help you attract the tourist to your website. You must next engage the online visitor, then convert them into real tourists to your destination or event. Once there, however, find ways to enhance their experience. And once they have returned home, let them relive their trip, and become your embassadors.
I will be looking at innovative uses of technologies directed towards tourists and tourism, such as GPS, GIS, RFID, Google Earth, Live Earth, blogs and moblogs, RSS feeds, FLASH web interfaces, panoramic photography, WiFi and BPL, gadgets, websites, and more.
This blog is directed to those who make a living in tourism. I invite you and your tourists to let me know about any unique online experiences. Is there a website out there we should know about? Is there a technology about which we should be aware?
