My name is Edward. I host this blog. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, the province known as “Canada’s Ocean Playground”. It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places on earth, but I know there are others. Join me while I explore these places on our globe, and explore the ways we showcase the areas in which we live.
This blog is about the tourist experience. It is about how we use tools and technologies to learn about destinations, and how we choose and plan our destination. It is about our actual visit. How is our visit improved and made more memorable? And when we return home, how do we recall, reminisce and share our experiences? This blog is directed to those responsible for affecting the tourist experience — directly and indirectly.
The Korean Tourism Technology Division defines tourism technology as the integration of traditional tourism with “statistics, managerial and socio-cultural know-how and skills that the tourism industry can adopt to design, produce and market various tourism products”. It blends entertainment, content and creative technologies.
You will notice selected blog entries with references to Roger A. Brooks’ rules. These are rules presented in his book, co-authored with Maury Forman, “The 25 Immutable Rules of Successful Tourism”. This book is about destination marketing. It is a book worth reading.
